Something To Keep An Eye On?

  • Toby Alderweireld has taken and scored 2 penalties in his last 2 games for Royal Antwerp FC in the Belgian Pro League. Main penalty taker Vincent Janssen has been injured, however.

  • Jamie MacLaren is 3 goals away from breaking the all-time Australian A-League goalscoring record. He plays for Melbourne City. One to keep an eye on for a goal and card bet over the next couple of weeks potentially.

  • Matty Pearson has turned into the second coming of Ronald Koeman with 4 goals in his last 3 games under Neil Warnock at Huddersfield Town.

Schalke vs Hertha Berlin, German Bundesliga, Friday 14th April, 19:30.

Best Bet: Both Teams To Receive 20+ Booking Points @ 2.10 (11/10) - SkyBet via BuildABet

  • Relegation dogfight between the bottom two sides in the Bundesliga. One point between them.

  • Season card totals: Hertha 58 yellows & 1 red. Schalke 51 yellows & 1 red.

  • Referee - Felix Brych. Career cards average: 4.24 Y/C pg.

A bit similar to last week’s bet on Cardiff vs Blackpool, the referee hasn’t exactly been dishing the cards out of late but the importance of the game has swayed my thinking. Both teams have the chance to put a little breathing space between themselves and the other with a massive three points, which would put them into a relegation play-off spot for the time being and drag Stuttgart and Bochum back into the fight to beat the drop (like I try and beat the drop by stealing the old girl’s Paddy Power account attempting to get 15 questions right on the spin). SkyBet is now the best price for both teams to receive 20+ booking points each, priced at 2.10 (11/10).

PSG vs Lens, French Ligue 1, Saturday 15th April, 20:00, BT Sport 3.

Bet: Seko Fofana Over 1.5 Shots @ 3.40 (12/5) - Bet365

Seko Fofana is averaging 2.4 shots per game in Ligue 1 this season over 28 appearances. He’s had 2+ shots in 18 of those appearances. Last season, the Lens captain averaged 2.6 shots over 38 Ligue 1 games. His career average over 261 games is 1.7 shots per game. Click here to see more.

Bet365 have priced the Ivorian at 3.40 (12/5) to have Over 1.5 shots vs PSG on Saturday night. PSG concede 11.5 shots per game on average this season and Lens are averaging 14.1 efforts on goal per game. Only Florian Sotoca (2.6pg) has more shots than Fofana on average for Lens. In their last 4 head to heads with PSG. Lens has had shot totals of 10, 8, 18 & 15. Fofana’s shot totals in these games have been 1, 3, 3 & 1.

Lens arrives in Paris with the faintest of chances of a Ligue 1 title charge, they trail PSG by 6 points having played the same amount of games and are currently their only likely challenge, although an outside challenge at that with the bookies pricing them up at around 25/1 generally to win the league.

Nottingham Forest vs Man Utd, English Premier League, Sunday 16th April, 16:30, Sky Sports Main Event.

Bet: Harry Toffolo Over 2.5 Tackles @ 3.75 (11/4) - Bet365

Harry Toffolo will be tasked with stopping the human fidget-spinner Antony. Toffolo has picked up 2 yellow cards in his last 3 Premier League games, committing 5 fouls and making 6 tackles in the process. Opposition left-backs against Manchester United can rack up big tackle numbers with Acuna (3), Godfrey (3) Dan Burn (6) & Robertson (4) all facing Antony in recent weeks. Toffolo is priced at 3.75 (11/4) with Bet365 to make at least 3 tackles. A safer bet is the 2.00 (1/1) for him to make 2 tackles but I’m chancing the extra tackle here with the odds on offer. I’ll also be having a little dabble on Harry Toffolo Over 2.5 Tackles & Toffolo To Be Booked @ 19.00 (18/1) with Bet365. He’s best priced at 7.50 (13/2) with SkyBet if you just want to back the card as a single. The referee is Simon Hooper, obviously! Can’t escape his baldy head lately.

Blackburn vs Hull, English Championship, Saturday 15th April, 19:45, Sky Sports Football.

Bet: Joe Rankin-Costello To Score Anytime @ 17.00 (16/1) - SkyBet

Why on earth am I backing another right back to score, you ask? Well…the Blackburn man has had at least 1+ shot in 10 of his last 11 games in The Championship. But, there’s nothing like a bit of recency bias to back up your thoughts is there? Rankin-Costello had 8 shots against Huddersfield last week with 7 of them hitting the target, scoring one. The SofaScore screenshot below shows this, which you can see for yourself here. Blackburn’s opponents, Hull, are languishing in mid-table, they won’t get up and they won’t go down. Like me after 9 pints! Their last couple of games has seen a 4-4 draw vs Sunderland and a 1-0 win over Millwall with them conceding 40 shots over the 180 minutes.

Rankin-Costello’s shot map shows his ability to join in attacks from full-back
