Fantasy Assist

Attributing a collection of assist events outside the conventional categorisation of Goal Assist. Classifies the final touch from a player on the scoring team as a Fantasy Assist, includes:

• A heavily deflected pass or cross.

• Shot on Target saved, rebound scored.

• Blocked Shot, rebound scored.

• Shot hit woodwork, rebound scored.

• Shot off Target, remains in play, rebound scored.

• Penalty won.

• Free kick won by foul.

• Free kick or penalty won from a handball.

• Event preceding an own Goal (usually shot/pass/cross).

I think this extra criteria could suit the Liverpool defenders style of play down to the ground. Trent Alexander-Arnold to have the most assists in Euro 2024 @ 29.00 (28/1) with SkyBet is my bet. The punt will probably be down the drain once he’s subbed after 58 minutes of stinking Gelsenkirchen out with this experimental central midfield role, but as Barry from Eastenders once famously sang… We’re gonna do it anywayyyyyy 🎶

A word of warning that Top Goalscorer and Golden Boot are completely different betting markets so make sure you don’t get caught out.

It’s possible that there will be several top goal scorers but only one can win the Golden Boot. For example: Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku could all score 5 goals in the tournament. All 5 would be top goalscorer in this instance, however, only one would win the Golden Boot and if Mbappe has 3 assists and the rest have 2 or less for instance, the Frenchman would take the crown.

So, when people are backing France to win the tournament and Kylian Mbappe to be TOP GOALSCORER, take into account that dead heat rules apply as more than one player can be the Top Goalscorer. The stake is divided by the total number of players tied and is then paid out at the full odds in most cases.

A Hypothetical Example: You have backed England to win the Euros and Jude Bellingham to be the Top Goalscorer at 66/1 with a £30 stake. If French forward Kylian Mbappe, Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo and Bellingham finish the tournament as joint top scorers on 5 goals each, there are three joint winners in this market and it is now a dead heat. The bet would be settled as £10 (a third of £30 based on three joint winners) at odds of 66/1. This means your bet would now return £670 instead of £2,010.
