Ben Toner to Mark his Cards at Elland Road
đź’° Punt: Arnau Martinez To Be Booked
đź“— Bookie: Bet365
🎲 Odds: 4.75 (15/4)
⚽️ Game: Girona vs. Liverpool
Liverpool sit top of the pile in the Champions League having won all 5 of their games whilst Girona are languishing in 30th place with 1 win and 4 losses, the Spanish outfit will now struggle to qualify for the knock-out phase having lost some of their more winnable games with only the top 24 teams going through.

Girona are committing the most fouls in the Champions League so far this season in the new format (14.8 fouls committed per game). Defender Arnau Martinez has already been sent off in the CL as Girona got walloped 4-0 by Dutch side PSV causing him to miss their disappointing 1-0 loss vs. Sturm Graz through suspension. Girona’s captain picked up 11 yellow cards in 32 starts in the 2022/23 season. He followed that up with 5 yellow cards in 14 starts (21 appearances) in the 2023/24 campaign. So far in La Liga this term, he’s had his name taken on 2 occasions in his 11 starts.
Arnau Martinez is best priced at 4.75 (15/4) with Bet365 to be booked vs. Liverpool and he will likely be tasked with marking either Luis Diaz or Cody Gakpo on the scousers left-wing. A couple of predicted line-ups don’t have him starting but I’m hoping he will, I’ll tweet out an alternative bet if not.
Punts:
Arnau Martinez To Be Booked @ 4.75 (15/4) - Bet365
Arnau Martinez & Ryan Gravenberch To Be Booked @ 23.00 (22/1) - Bet365
đź’° Punt: Over 2 Cards For Leeds & Over 2 Cards For Middlesbrough
đź“— Bookie: Bet365
🎲 Odds: 4.00 (3/1)
⚽️ Game: Leeds vs. Middlesbrough
2nd place Leeds (38 points) host geographical rivals 5th placed Middlesbrough (31 points) in what should be an entertaining game as the two promotion hopefuls face off for the 2nd time this season. The Boro won 3-0 in their first meeting of this campaign, in the EFL Cup, referee Anthony Backhouse showed 6 cards that night, 3 for both teams. The two clashes between the sides last year were both filled with goals and cards were aplenty as well, 4 cards were shown as they played out a seven-goal-thriller at The Riverside in April. In the reverse fixture, there were 9 yellow cards and Anfernee Dijksteel was sent off. Interestingly, Emmanuel Latte Lath scored a brace in both league games vs. Leeds last year.

Tonight’s referee is Ben Toner who is averaging 5.41 yellow cards across 17 domestic appearances this campaign. That increases to 5.93 yellow cards if you exclude his 2 League Cup games, having showed 89 yellow cards in 15 games so far. Including his League 2 appointment at the weekend between Crewe and Bradford where he showed 9 yellow cards and 1 red card. Both teams received 4 yellow cards in the second half, that’s an 80/1 shot on Bet365 for tonight’s game.
Punts:
Over 2 Cards For Leeds & Over 2 Cards For Middlesbrough @ 4.00 (3/1) - Bet365
Over 4 Cards For Leeds & Over 4 Cards For Middlesbrough @ 67.00 (66/1) - Bet365
Max Wober came on at left-back after Junior Firpo sustained a first half injury at the weekend against Derby, the Austrian international registered 4 shots, with 2 of them coming from outside of the box and he was even caught offside, with his heat map for the match showing him in very advanced positions. He’s 3.25 (9/4) to register 2+ shots with Bet365 or 12.00 (11/1) to be caught offside with SkyBet, just ramblings of a gambling man at this point and I’m not overly confident on either.
đź’° Punt: Dominic Hyam Over 0.5 Shots & Dominic Hyam Over 1.5 Shots
đź“— Bookie: Bet365
🎲 Odds: 3.25 (9/4) & 13.00 (12/1)
⚽️ Game: Sheff Wed vs. Blackburn
28-year-old Scottish defender Dominc Hyam isn’t Finnish he’s only 28. He’s also not exactly Luigi Mangione when it comes to the art of shooting, which explains the odds on offer. He’s had 8 shots in 18 league games so far this season, registering 2+ shots on one solitary occasion, at home to Stoke. 4 of those shots have came in his last 5 games, including his controversial winning goal away to Middlesbrough. He’s had 87 shots in 213 career games that WhoScored have data for dating back to his time at Coventry in 2019/2020.
The 6 foot something centre-half now faces the worst team in the league at defending set-pieces and is sure to be a target for Blackburn as they look to continue their impressive recent form and add to their 4 consecutive wins which has them sitting in a play-off position. Sheffield Wednesday have conceded a league-high 11 goals from set-pieces and Rovers should look to exploit this with Hyam and Danny Batth the likeliest suspects to be an aerial threat. If Batth gets added to the player shots market, it’s worth chancing the doubles with Hyam for 1 shot each and 2 shots each. The same bet landed last night for West Ham with Mavropanos and Kilman having 2 shots at goal each as they faced the Premier League’s worst side at defending set-plays.
Punt:
Dominic Hyam Over 0.5 Shots @ 3.25 (9/4) - Bet365
Dominic Hyam Over 1.5 Shots @ 13.00 (12/1) - Bet365
