Flying full-back Ryan Manning was a free agent after his contract at Swansea City expired in the summer but it wasn’t long before he followed his former manager Russell Martin to St Mary’s as he became Southampton’s first signing since their demotion to English football’s second tier.

Manning was a key cog in Martin’s system as he registered an impressive 5 goals and 10 assists in the 43 games he featured in last season. He registered at least one assist on 9 separate occasions. He also averaged 2.5 key passes per game and created 14 big chances for The Swans last term.

He’s likely to take a backseat when it comes to set piece responsibilities whilst James Ward-Prowse remains a Southampton player however I still think the 8.50 (15/2) for Ryan Manning to register an assist with Betfair/Paddy Power is a great price. Manning has an assist to his name in pre-season after setting up Shea Charles’ header against Bournemouth, however, this was from a free-kick which he’s likely the second option for unless it favours a left-footer.
