Midweek Bets 14th - 16th March

Beans On Toast Or Caviar?

Hopefully, we haven’t all done our bollocks on the gee-gees and there are still some pennies left in the coffers for a dabble on the footy. If you’re up shit creek without a paddle, smash open your little sister’s terramundi pot and get back on the wagon with her pocket money…

We’ll start off with a feature from the poshest Bradford fan in the world. Loves a player card bet. The link to his Twitter is below followed by his player card punt.

Luton vs Bristol City, Wednesday 15th March, 19:45.

Christian’s Recommended Bet: Fred Onyedinma to be carded @ 10/1 - Bet365

Fred Onyedinma is set to get the nod at left wing-back again, after stepping in to good affect for the injured Alfie Doughty last time out in an impressive win away at Sheffield United. He has only started 5 games this season and picked up one yellow from those appearances, but this one is really just a price play, 365 have him down as the least likely player to be booked (outside of Luton's injured 2nd choice keeper) which I simply don't agree with.

For those who want a bit more justification for the 10/1 shot - if he is to start at LWB he'll be on the side of the pitch where Alex Scott & Mark Sykes like to operate for Bristol City who just happen to be their two most fouled players.

FC Porto vs Inter Milan, Tuesday 14th March, 20:00

There were 39 match tackles in the first leg with Porto mustering up 22 of those in addition to Inter’s 17. Porto should be quite aggressive and get in Inter’s faces at home, under the lights at the Estádio do Dragão. It’s got all the hallmarks of an absolute classic and plenty of mistimed tackles leading to handbags, maybe. The game could easily go a similar way to Porto’s meetings with Atletico Madrid over the last couple of years and see the referee get his cheese and strawberry slices out. The referee is, of course, Polish fraud Szymon Marciniak who I haven’t forgiven for failing to book Nicolas Tagliafico in the World Cup Final. He sent Porto striker Mehdi Taremi off for simulation as a second bookable offence back in the group stages in September v Atletico Madrid. Since February, Porto’s 9 games have had 8 red cards in total. Referee, Marciniak has shown 24 red cards in 69 UEFA Champions & Europa League games across his career. William Hill has priced A Red Card In The Match up at 5.00 (4/1) and it would be rude not to have a cheeky little punt on both teams going down to 10 at 81.00 (80/1) wouldn’t it?

  • Recommended Bet - A Red Card In The Match @ 5.00 (4/1)

  • Bookie - William Hill

  • Confidence - 1/3

Real Madrid vs Liverpool, Wednesday 15th March, 20:00

A trip to Madrid on Wednesday night will have scousers dreaming of yet another famous European comeback. Trailing 5-2 from the first leg at Anfield last month, you’d imagine Liverpool will have to attack from the off here. Liverpool only had 9 efforts on goal at Anfield despite trailing 4-2 from the 55th minute and 7 of those 9 were in the first half. Mohammed Salah had already scored and had 3 shots by the 25th minute, he’s 2.10 (11/10) to repeat the feat and have over 2.5 shots and over 0.5 shots on target vs Real Madrid with Bet365 through Bet Builder. He’s had 23 shots in 7 UCL appearances this season, he’s had 3+ shots in 6/7 of these. The only time he failed to have 3 shots was in the defeat to Napoli where he was subbed on 2 shots in the 62nd minute. Salah averages 3.1 shots in the Premier League however, he has only hit 3+ shots in 16/26 appearances this season. I think the game state should see an increase in Liverpool’s shots as they desperately try to pull off a miracle in their last hope for silverware this season.

  • Recommended Bet - Mohammed Salah Over 2.5 Shots & Over 0.5 Shots On Target @ 2.10 (11/10)

  • Bookie - Bet365

  • Confidence - 3/3

West Ham vs AEK Larnaca, Thursday 16th March, 20:00

Similar to the Liverpool game, AEK Larnaca would need to pull off something miraculous to get a result on Thursday night against competition favourites West Ham. They managed 15 shots at home last week in the first leg forcing a ridiculous 14 corners, it’s more than likely a one-off and it’s hard for lightning to strike twice but SkyBet has priced them up at 2/1 to have 4+ corners. Same opponent, same competition, one week later & ten fewer corners. Oh, go on then! And, no, I couldn’t talk you out of backing any higher lines. 5, 6, 7, 8 My boot-scootin’ baby is drivin’ me crazy...

  • Recommended Bet - 4+ AEK Larnaca Corners @ 3.00 (2/1)

  • Bookie - SkyBet

  • Confidence - 2/3

#CheekyPunts

  • Napoli vs Eintracht Frankfurt - Daichi Kamada Over 2.5 Shots, Evan N’Dicka Over 2.5 Tackles & Phillip Max Over 0.5 Shots @ 51.00 (50/1) - Bet365. Frankfurt will be chasing the game from the first whistle after losing the first leg 2-0, there should be added responsibility on Daichi Kamada as an attacking/goalscoring threat with talisman Randal Kolo Muani suspended. Left-sided central defender Evan N’Dicka managed 2 tackles and 4 interceptions when tasked with marking Mexican forward Hirving Lozano in Germany, who completed the most successful dribbles on the pitch (4). Phillip Max should be Frankfurt’s free-kick taker if any opportunities arise from a shooting position, he’s had 5 shots in 7 appearances since signing for the Bundesliga side.

  • FC Porto vs Inter Milan: FC Porto - Over 22.5 Tackles @ 7.00 (6/1)

  • Real Betis vs Man Utd: German Pezzella - Over 63.5 Passes @ 6.50 (11/2)

  • West Ham vs AEK Larnaca: Over 7.5 Goal Kicks in the Match for West Ham @ 5.50 (9/2)

  • The above selections combine for a 250.25 (249.25/1) treble on Bet365. If you’re unaware, you’ll have to go on bet builder for each selection and click on the relative market e.g. for the Porto bet: Bet Builder > Total Tackles > FC Porto > Over 22.5 Tackles > Add To Bet Slip. And repeat the process for the Real Betis & West Ham games.

  • Porto managed 22 tackles in the first leg. Chasing the tie and should be in Inter’s faces from the first whistle.

  • Pezzella managed 50 passes at Old Trafford but his Betis side find themselves 4-1 down and it’s more than plausible Betis have more of the ball at home with the deficit.

  • AEK Larnaca forced 9 West Ham goal kicks from their 15 shots in the first leg and travel to London losing 2-0 on aggregate.
