What’s the tale of the tape so far?

Simone Inzaghi’s Inter Milan side finished 4th in the newly formatted ‘league phase’ although in points terms they were joint 2nd, their goal difference was worse than both Barcelona and Arsenal. Despite the fact they conceded just once in 8 ‘league’ games, they only scored 11. On the other hand, Luis Enrique’s PSG side had a fairly disappointing league phase as they finished 15th, losing 3 of their 8 games. PSG then turned into the best team in the world in 2025 beating Brest, Liverpool, Aston Villa & Arsenal on their largely comfortable route to the final. Meanwhile, Inter won comfortably vs. Feyenoord before some of the most entertaining football in the world this season as they got the better of a pair of European powerhouses in Bayern Munich & Barcelona, with the latter being an instant classic of a tie over 210 minutes of enthralling futbol.

With two contrasting styles of play, it’s hard to call which way the game will go but we’ll get rich or die trying anyway. First bet that caught my eye is a 20/1 shot with Betfair/Paddy Power.

Punt: Vitinha To Be Opta Player of the Match @ 21.00 (20/1) - Paddy Power/Betfair, SkyBet has it at 18/1 which I’d also take.

Only Ousmane Dembele has amassed more ‘Opta Points’ for PSG this season than Vitinha. Dembele has 774.40 whilst Vitinha has 709.00 averaging 24.40 per game and winning the POTM award 3 times in Ligue 1. It’s either a cagey affair and Vitinha racks up 100+ passes and goes close to winning the award or Dembele scores a hat-trick and runs away with it. There’s always the possibility neither happen and the Portuguese midfielder snaps his ACL 17 minutes in, too.

The Player Foul Matchups are always an entertaining market to bet on, willing your man on to make the most needless foul whenever he’s up against his opposite number. However, they haven’t priced one I’d have liked to have seen the odds on. That would have been Federico DiMarco to commit a foul on Khvicha Kvaratskheila, although that’s massively team news, or rather 10 seconds before kick-off dependent. With the idea being that Barcola started on the left wing vs. Dumfries & KK started on the right wing vs. DiMarco. He’ll be subbed off on 56 minutes for Carlos Augusto without committing a foul anyway, so it’s probably for the best.

Probably a stupid thing to do but I’m throwing a couple of quid at Inter getting the job done in 90 minutes and Yann Sommer getting booked for some good old-fashioned time wasting. FORZA INTER!

Punts:

  • Inter To Win & Yann Sommer To Be Carded @ 25.00 (24/1) - SkyBet

  • Inter To Win, Yann Sommer To Be Carded & 6+ Paris St Germain Corners @ 43.00 (42/1) - SkyBet

  • Inter To Win, Yann Sommer To Be Carded & 8+ Paris St Germain Corners @ 81.00 (80/1) - SkyBet

  • Inter To Win, Yann Sommer To Be Carded & 12+ Paris St Germain Corners @ 401.00 (400/1) - SkyBet

Let’s just hope for some classic Inzaghi terrorism and then for Marcus Thuram to be a bit more clinical than Romelu Lukaku was in their 2023 final defeat vs. Man City. The bet can be as dead as a dodo (Not the Fiorentina right-back) with an early PSG goal so shrapnel stakes it is. Or whatever you’re comfortable with losing, I’m not arsed!

Lastly, it isn’t a bet as such as we need the game state to be in our favour. BUT, if the game is level or Inter Milan are leading by a goal in the second-half, I’ll be betting on Davide Frattesi to score and be booked when he’s subbed on, he’s an absolute top-off merchant as seen in the last time he played in this stadium….ooo, FATE.

I mean, who takes their top off for an 88th minute winner in the FIRST-LEG of a semi-final? A confident man, that’s who. More aura than Rita. Imagine what he’ll do when he scores the winner in the final? He might even helicopter his Italian Nduja all over the Allianz Arena.
