Keep Punting: Saturday 23rd August

💰 Punt: Kayne Ramsay & Josh Edwards 3+ Tackles Each, 4+ Tackles Each & 5+ Tackles Each
📗 Bookie: Bet365
🎲 Odds: 4.50 (7/2), 15.00 (14/1) & 41.00 (40/1)
⚽️ Game: Charlton vs. Leicester

Assuming Kayne Ramsay and Josh Edwards actually start the game, that’s probably a good starting point isn’t it? I’ll be on tackle bet builders involving the pair. Or whoever the fuck starts full back for Charlton Athletic in 2025. Is Alan Curbishley still manager?

There’s a lot of potential with the bet if you just look at the first 3 games of Leicester’s season and ignore everything else. Recency bias is king!

On the opening day vs. Sheffield Wednesday, Yan Valery made 3 tackles with his replacement Olaf Kolbacki making a further 3 whilst Liam Palmer who started the game left-wing back racked up 5 tackles, attempting 8. In their EFL Cup tie vs. Huddersfield, opposition right-back Lynden Gooch made 9 successful tackles from 16 attempts in total whilst left-back Sean Roughan made a measly 3. The league defeat to Preston last weekend saw Pol Valentin make 5 tackles in 73 minutes of play and left-back Thierry Small made 2 tackles with his replacement Andrija Vukcevic making another 1 late on.

The transfer of Kasey McAteer to Ipswich Town and rumours of Bilal El Khannouss being subject of Premier League interest, should see a lot more time on the pitch for the two demons out wide in Stephy Mavididi & Abdul Fatawu Issahaku who both absolutely love dribbling at their opposite number. Add in to that the potential of Jeremy Monga getting more first-team minutes after being the only bright spark in the disappointing loss at Preston and we could be cooking on gas. Monga started the EFL Cup game left-wing which saw Huddersfield’s right-back attempt 16 tackles throughout the match.

Occam’s razor.

When faced with multiple explanations for the same phenomenon, choose the one that requires the fewest assumptions.

I know my old philosophy teacher Mr. Dunn will be proud of me applying my A-Level philosophical knowledge to gambling. Like a young Plato making his way in the world.

Angry bastard 1 (Hannibal) + Angry Bastard 2 (Xhaka) = dissent, handbags, off-the ball scuffle, spit in each other’s face? I don’t care! Kick each other, why is this 14/1? Why isn’t this plastered all over Andy Robson’s page? Is this too good to be true? Shall I stop with the rhetorical questions?

Punts:

  • Hannibal Mejbri & Granit Xhaka To Be Booked @ 15.00 (14/1) - Bet365

⚽️ Game: Bayer Leverkusen vs. TSG Hoffenheim

Will Ten Hag’s football result in conceding a barrage of shots every game in the Bundesliga? Most likely. The Dutch manager has oversaw a huge summer of transition in personnel which will hopefully lead to some teething problems in attempting to implement his style of play at Leverkusen.

Since the start of the 2022/23 season until the end of his tenure as Man Utd boss, only 4 sides conceded more shots in total than Man Utd’s 1,253 shots. The 667 shots they conceded in the 23/24 campaign was comfortably the most Manchester United had ever faced in a season. That averaged out at 17.6 shots conceded per game which was the 2nd most in the Premier League, with only relegated Sheffield United conceding more (17.8).

Hoffenheim themselves are no mugs and averaged 13.0 shots per game in the 24/25 Bundesliga season. Coach Christian Ilzer also had impressive shot data whilst managing in the Austrian Bundesliga with his Sturm Graz side averaging well over 14 shots per game and over 15 shots per game in one season.

Let’s hope for Ten Hag to stink the gaff out in Germany and sit and watch his teams get peppered like the baldy cuckold he is. There’s not much shot data available from pre-season, however, he opened up pre-season by getting walloped off Flamengo’s U20 side 5-1 which is impressive in itself. I’m unsure on the accuracy but SofaScore have the following shot statistics for Leverkusen’s pre-season and DFB Pokal opposition

  • Flamengo U20 - 17 shots, 13 on target

  • VFL Bochum - 10 shots, 3 on target

  • Fortuna Sittard - 4 shots, 2 on target

  • Pisa - 15 shots, 6 on target

  • Chelsea - 24 shots, 9 on target

  • SG Sonnenhof Großaspach - 12 shots, 4 on target (Cup game)

Punts:

  • TSG Hoffenheim - Over 14.5 Total Shots @ 6.50 (11/2) - Bet365

  • TSG Hoffenheim - Over 15.5 Total Shots @ 8.00 (7/1) - Bet365

  • TSG Hoffenheim to win, TSG Hoffenheim most shots & Mark Flekken 5+ Saves @ 111.00 (110/1) - Bet365
