Are The Blades Still Blunt?

💰 Punt: Japhet Tanganga & Mark McGuinness Over 0.5 Shots & Over 1.5 Shots
📗 Bookie: Bet365
🎲 Odds: 4.50 (7/2) & 36.00 (35/1)
⚽️ Game: Ipswich vs. Sheffield United
Sheffield United’s start to the season under Ruben Selles’ leadership has been rougher than 3 days in Ibiza in your late twenties, please don’t ask me how I know. I’m not Finnish but dem Blades might be.
Although they’re absolutely fucking honking son as Barry Bannan might say, the fact they’ve been so bad has probably led to them topping the charts for shots from set-pieces. They’ve had 26 shots from set-piece situations in their opening 4 league games which is the joint most in the division alongside Coventry, they top the charts for xG from set-pieces with a 3.01 despite the fact they haven’t actually scored from one yet. 52% of their total shots so far have been from set-pieces and the 3.01 xG figure makes up 62.48% of their total xG thus far.
The late transfer window additions of Japhet Tanganga from Millwall and Mark McGuinness from Luton should benefit the Blades as a set-piece threat in the long run. McGuinness averaged 1.1 shots per game last season in The Championship with Luton in 43 appearances whilst Tanganga also averaged 1.1 shots per game over slightly less game time with 40 appearances.

I’m just working under the assumption that Tyler Bindon will be benched for McGuinness after arriving late from international duty Ruben Selles said “We have players like Tyler Bindon who is landing on Thursday evening and then we have to consider his selection for the game because he hasn’t been able to train with the team and had a long flight.” as well as the umpteen comments replying to the above quote on twitter (unc’s version of X) calling the poor lad worse than shite.
The odds for both Tanganga and McGuinness to have a shot with Bet365 look appealing. For those a touch more sensible a couple of singles will probably be how you profit long-term, for those a bit more mentally deranged just back the pair to have 3 shots at 350/1, how doesn’t it win?
Japhet Tanganga Over 0.5 Shots @ 2.10 (11/10)
Mark McGuinness Over 0.5 Shots @ 2.20 (6/5)
Tanganga & McGuinness Over 0.5 Shots Each Double @ 4.50 (7/2)
Japhet Tanganga Over 1.5 Shots @ 6.00 (5/1)
Mark McGuinness Over 1.5 Shots @ 6.50 (11/2)
Tanganga & McGuinness Over 1.5 Shots Each Double @ 36.00 (35/1)

Although Ipswich rank 20th for shots conceded with just 14 so far in their opening four fixtures, this accounts for 41.18% of the total shots they’ve faced. An early Ipswich goal or two and we could be cooking on gas, incoming Sheff Utd remembering how to play the game of association football and keeping Ruben Selles in a job. Tanganga is best priced at 14/1 to score with Bet365 whilst McGuinness is best priced at 17/1 with Paddy Power.
As DannyBoy83.83.83.83 would say be safe, be lucky. We’ll keep ya entertained, won’t we peeps?
