Carry on reading for the reasoning!

In a week where a heavyweight clash between an Englishman and a Ukrainian was seemingly cancelled for good, let’s hope there’s some fight shown on the football pitch. In an ideal world, Bukayo Saka will be a bit of a greedy belly with the ball and dribble it into the rabbit Vitaliy Mykolenko’s path a couple of times.

England vs Ukraine, Sunday 26th March, 17:00 - Channel 4

Best Bet: Vitaliy Mykolenko Over 1.5 Tackles @ 2.10 (11/10) - Bet365

Everton left-back Mykolenko is probably sick of the sight of Bukayo Saka at this rate. This will be the third time since the 4th of February that they’ve matched up against each other if they’re both to start. So, what happened when Vitaliy met Bukayo? The Ukrainian has made 7 tackles and 4 fouls when tasked with stopping Saka in both Premier League meetings between Arsenal and Everton this season.

I’m assuming Southgate sticks with the same XI that beat Italy in Naples except for the enforced change at left-back due to Luke Shaw’s suspension. Mykolenko played 45 minutes the other day for Ukraine against Romeo Beckham’s mighty Brentford B team.

  • Mykolenko averaging 1.6 tackles per game in 27 PL apps this season.

  • 54% of Saka’s dribbles are unsuccessful in 28 PL apps.

  • Saka dispossessed 4 times & 8 unsuccessful touches against Mykolenko’s Everton this season.

Spain vs Norway, Saturday 25th March, 19:45 - Viaplay Sports 2

Jose Luis De La Fuente is Spain’s new gaffer after Luis Enrique’s disappointing World Cup exit after some truly dreadful penalties against Morocco in Qatar. I know absolutely nothing about him except he’s been involved in several Spain youth teams over the last few years, so the Spaniards will be good at keeping the ball I’m guessing!

Norway will be without Erling Haaland. The new Spain boss has spoken in his press conference of his relief that he won’t have to find a way to stop the goalscoring machine. I think Norway will have to take advantage of every set piece they get and Leo Ostigard should be one of, if not the main aerial threat for the Norwegians. He’s available on Betfair/Paddy Power at 2.80 (9/5) to have at least 1 shot. I think it’s a fair price. Spain will dominate possession but this could play into our hands if the Norwegians are direct in their attempts to gain an advantage.

Leo Ostigard scoring from a Martin Odegaard corner

Ostigard has been a bit-part, rotation player this season as Napoli close in on the Scudetto so I’ve been quite selective and used his national team stats as the deciding factor for this bet:

  • Had 10 shots in 6 games during their UEFA Nations League campaign. (0/1/2/0/5/2)

  • Had 2 shots across 2 games (1 in each) last international break and scored against Ireland in a friendly.

  • Not the tallest but very aerially dominant

  • Has a skinhead - Laporte will run crying to his mamacita at the sight of this behemoth of a man

Croatia vs Wales, Saturday 25th March, 19:45 - Viaplay Sports 1

Wales enter a new era without their greatest-ever football/golf player, Gareth Bale. It’s time for the next generation of Welsh talent to step forward, like 30-year-old Torquay-born battering ram Kieffer Moore!

The Bournemouth striker is best-priced at 5.00 (4/1) with Bet365 or SkyBet to be cautioned on Saturday night

Elbow. Defender. Yellow Card. In That Order!

Moore’s card record for Wales is the football betting world’s worst-kept secret. European officials aren’t a fan of his physical style and often punish him as he challenges defenders in the air because of the way he jumps with his elbows. Although he didn’t get booked at the World Cup and I backed him every game I think, so he might just be my cliff horse of card betting if his good behaviour continues.

  • Leo Ostigard To Score Anytime @ 46.00 (45/1) - Betfair/Paddy Power.
Same reasoning as mentioned above, let’s hope a shot goes in the back of the onion bag!

  • Also, if you noticed the caption on the photo of him scoring vs Ireland…
