Bank Holiday Bets: Mitoma Magic & The Spanish Armada 🇯🇵🇪🇸

Shots on The Menu This Bank Holiday

A couple of free bets flying about for the Bank Holiday weekend, I imagine people will have different amounts in terms of £ but the following is what I’ve seen:

  • Free BuildABet for Newcastle vs. Liverpool on Sunday on SkyBet

  • Free multi-match bet builder to use across PL games on PaddyPower

  • Free £5 Bet on William Hill

💰 Punt: Pedro Porro 2+ & 3+ Total Shots
📗 Bookie: SkyBet
🎲 Odds: 3.75 (11/4) & 11.00 (10/1)
⚽️ Game: Bournemouth vs Tottenham

Watching Spurs over the 2 PL games so far this season has been a vast improvement in terms of entertainment in comparison to the dross Conte & Mourinho set up in previous years.

Pedro Porro averages 1.6 shots p90 mins played across his career, data taken from WhoScored.

Porro had 26 shots last season in his 15 Premier League outings for Spurs, scoring 3 goals. His shots per90 average increased to 2.07 during that sample according to FBRef.

The departure of Harry Kane also means penalty and free-kick-taking duties are up for grabs. Porro has a history of taking penalties whilst at Sporting and took a few free-kicks for Spurs last year. You’d imagine James Maddison would be his competition for both of the above, however, there are rumours that Maddison may not be fit enough to feature this weekend which would hopefully leave Porro in pole position for set-piece duties.

SkyBet > BuildABet. Punts:

  • Punt: Pedro Porro 2+ Total Shots @ 3.75 (11/4)

  • Punt: Pedro Porro 3+ Total Shots @ 11.00 (10/1)

  • Pedro Porro 4+ Total Shots @ 43.00 (42/1) (add 3 & 4 shots to BuildABet to get increased odds)

💰 Punt: Max Kilman 70+ & 90+ Passes
📗 Bookie: Betfair/Paddy Power
🎲 Odds: 2.50 (6/4) & 8.50 (15/2)
⚽️ Game: Everton vs Wolves

I fancy Wolves to dominate possession against Sean Dyche’s Everton side, I’d probably fancy the bet a lot more if Lopetgui was still manager but so far under Gary O’Neil, new Wolves skipper Kilman has had 49 passes against Man Utd at Old Trafford and 64 passes against Brighton despite Wolves only having 46% possession.

CB’s passing numbers vs. Everton so far:

  • Fulham - Ream (69) & Diop (80)

  • Aston Villa - Konsa (68) & Torres (79)

Of course, it’s only two games. But, these are high passing numbers considering Everton has never led at any point and trailed Aston Villa from the 18th minute. You’d generally associate higher passing numbers with teams struggling to break a defence down or teams who are losing for long periods.

Betfair/Paddy Power have priced up passes for this one:

  • Punt: Maximilian Kilman To Attempt 70 Or More Passes @ 2.50 (6/4)

  • Punt: Maximilian Kilman To Attempt 90 Or More Passes @ 8.50 (15/2)

💰 Punt: Kaoru Mitoma 3+ Chances Created
📗 Bookie: SkyBet
🎲 Odds: 4.33 (10/3)
⚽️ Game: Brighton vs West Ham

SkyBet is offering a couple of new player markets this season in the “Player Chances Created” & “Player Fouls Won” markets. I’ll be delving into the player chances created market for this bet. So, what is a chance created…?

“OPTA define a chance created as assists plus key passes. A key pass is the final pass leading to the recipient of the ball having an attempt at goal without scoring.”

Since 2021/2022, Kaoru Mitoma has averaged 1.6 key passes per 90 minutes across 69 appearances (4412 minutes). So far this season, Mitoma has had 5 key passes vs. Luton & 4 key passes vs. Wolves. So, the 4.33 (10/3) that SkyBet are offering on the Japanese winger creating 3 chances on Saturday night has drawn me in. If you prefer to play it safer or want a bit more bang for your buck then these are your options:

  • Kaoru Mitoma 2+ Chances Created @ 2.00 (1/1)

  • Punt: Karou Mitoma 3+ Chances Created @ 4.33 (10/3)

  • Kaoru Mitoma 4+ Chances Created @ 10.00 (9/1)

💰 Punt: Ryan Andrews 2+ Total Shots
📗 Bookie: SkyBet
🎲 Odds: 5.50 (9/2)
⚽️ Game: Watford vs Blackburn

18-year-old Ryan Andrews has some impressive shooting stats from full-back so far this season in The Championship:

  • 45 mins, second-half sub vs. QPR - 1 shot

  • 90 mins vs. Plymouth - 5 shots

  • 90 mins vs. Stoke - 2 shots

Watford Fc Soccer GIF by Watford Football Club

Watford manager Valerien Ismael has stated that he’ll work with Andrews on his positioning in the box to avoid the same patterns from the last few weeks i.e. getting his shots blocked. Watford fans seem to be a bit critical of his decision-making and composure in the final third and want him to get his shots off faster. He is still a teenager and turns 19 this Saturday, so what better way to mature than to have a couple of shots and maybe even a belated birthday goal on Sunday?

Punt: Ryan Andrews 2+ Total Shots @ 5.50 (9/2) - SkyBet
